Good News: I had my scans on Monday and visits with doctors today for results. Everything continues to look “unremarkable”. That’s a word you like to read in scan results.
Also, you may remember my complaints about the icky chalk-like-fake-smoothie contrast drink I had to consume for my first scans. God orchestrated a fantastic opportunity for me to learn about an alternative contrast called, Isovue, which I have used for my past 2 scans. It’s SO MUCH BETTER!! I have to drink it at the hospital, over an hour, mixed into a liter of water, but I’ll take that over the liquid chalk any day! Little blessings, much gratefulness.
Great News: We learned today that thanks to continued advances in immunotherapy treatment, they have discovered that I can safely receive a double dose of my Nivolumab. This means that my visits to the hospital will only occur monthly instead of every other week! My scans will now move to every 4 months for a while, and I have crossed the half-way mark to the end of this treatment, God-willing. This is an unexpected and huge blessing.
As wonderful as all this news is, it pales in comparison to the best news of all. This Sunday our family will join with many others around the world celebrating Jesus’ miraculous resurrection after his suffering and death. We love this holiday because it’s the thrilling reminder that even the evils of cancer will one day be struck down by the same power that raised Jesus. I hope you will enjoy your celebration this Sunday. Know that we will be thanking God for all of you as we celebrate also.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” ~John14:6 (NASB)
