I blinked and 6 months flew by-wow! I prepared for scans in June, but then learned that our new insurance was optimistic about my treatment and decided I didn't need that last set of every 4 month scans (translate=they were not inclined to pay for them until 6 months had past). Fast-forward to September and I had the whole battery of scans (CT, Ultrasound and brain MRI) at the much-appreciated, closer location that I was anticipating. It was great to travel half the distance. All scans were clear of any concerning signs, so we are praising God for that.
Unfortunately, due to another insurance change, I'll be back at the Huntsman location for scans in March, but the good news is that I learned I can schedule my scans and doctor visits for the same day, as long as I am willing to wait around a while for the radiologist to read the scans. I'm good to read and kick back for a few hours, so that's the plan in March of 2020.
I would appreciate your prayers for a new cancer journey our family is now facing. My Mom has recently been diagnosed with a metastatic cancer in her liver. The doctors aren't certain of the origin and are in the process of ordering tests to narrow down the source, if possible. She has a port and yesterday had her first chemotherapy infusion in Arizona. So, if you would pray with us for the following requests, we would really appreciate it!
Praises:
- Another year cancer free for me!
- It's a long story, but my Mom's cancer was spotted due to an unexpected x-ray she had here in Utah this past June. Praise God for alerting her that something needed to be checked out before it was too late.
Prayer Requests:
- That my cancer would not return-ever!
- For my Mom
- That God would give her, my Dad and my family living close by her, continued peace and strength as she walks this journey.
- For the doctors to find out exactly what cancer they are dealing with and have wisdom to know the right treatment.
- For minimal side-effects from the chemotherapy.
- For my Mom to be able to share her hope with people she encounters. She has a gift for relating to people and listening to their stories, and I'm sure she will be a huge blessing to patients who are struggling.
- For total and complete healing from cancer.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. ~Psalm 28:7
I appreciate you all and your willingness to share this journey with me!
