Thanks so much for your faithful prayers. We felt loved and covered through the first phase of this adventure and are grateful to each of you for your contribution to that. :-) Here is what the weekend looked like and how you can pray for the next few weeks!
I was able to stop the narcotic pain killer after only 2 doses on Friday night. After that, I’ve taken some Ibuprofen occasionally, but haven’t really needed it much. I would say my recovery has been very smooth, praise God! I saw my plastic surgeon today and am continually impressed with the professionals we have encountered at Huntsman Cancer Institute already on our journey. Dr. Kwok did a great job removing my dressing, explaining the options and giving his recommendation for the next step. I won’t give any more details on what we saw, to spare the faint of heart. If you think stuff like this is cool, let me know and I’ll give you the full description. Ha ha! C. R. has been trained on dressing changes, which we’ll need to do for the rest of this week-he’s a saint and has already been the best nurse I could have asked for!
Now, we are waiting on biopsy results from the lymph nodes and the ankle resection this week. If the ankle resection biopsy indicates clear margins, I’ll go in this Friday for the skin graft surgery and then should have results from the lymph node biopsy by the 23rd. We are praying for no need of further treatment, but also trust in God’s perfect plan.
Thank you to those of you who have been reaching out to us, loving on us, helping us and praying for us. We could never remember to recognize every act of kindness, so we’ll leave it to God to bless you for your goodness to us.
Prayer requests:
- Continued peace and trust in God’s plan during this process.
- Our open eyes to see how God might use our journey for His glory-possibly sharing our hope in Jesus with health workers or other patients.
- No further evidence of cancer.
- Quick healing from the next surgery and my ability to sit still and let that happen! A week almost entirely off my feet is NOT something I’ll be very good at!
